God Save The Queen - a royal playlist

The Queen is dead, as Morrissey (the scumbag) infamously sang in the 1986 The Smiths song. His prophecy took a while to complete but here we are, The King Charles III sits on the throne.

While Liz seemed well liked by most of her subjects, she did not inspire much sympathy to the rockers. The following songs are not very tender with the Queen but it's paradoxically part of her legacy. She was a real muse for punks and rockers, and to be totally fair, some adored her. But the love for the Queen is not a great subject for a rock song, unless she rides dragons and you're into Black metal.

The Queen Is Dead - The Smiths:

Her very Lowness with her head in a sling
I'm truly sorry, but it sounds like a wonderful thing

God Save The Queen - Sex Pistols:

God save the queen
The fascist regime
They made you a moron
A potential H bomb

Repeat - Manic Street Preacher:

Fuck queen and country
Repeat after me
Death sentence heritage

Dear Elizabeth - The Stone Roses:

Dear Elizabeth - The Stone Roses:

Sign me a picture of the queen now
Dirty little bitch, fucking little cow

Billy Bragg - Rule Nor Reason:

The Queen on her throne
Plays Shirley Bassey records when she's all on her own
And she looks out the window
And cries

The Beatles - Her Majesty

Her Majesty is a pretty nice girl
But she doesn't have a lot to say
